This outcome likely stems from the brain being deprived of a sensory input, and the most common reaction to this loss: social isolation. We're developing the first-in-class therapy that reverses the neurological root cause of this hearing deficit.

Hearing aids don’t solve all hearing loss

When ears have a volume problem, we call that peripheral hearing loss.  Hearing aids handle it. When the brain can no longer separate a voice from the noise around it, that's central hearing loss. No treatment exists for this “cocktail party effect”. Patients withdraw from conversations, then from social life, and their dementia risk doubles.
